Soil Erosion Control Permit - Exceptions

 

No Permits Will Be Required for the Following Activities:

  • Plowing and tiling of land in an agricultural land use
  • Landscaping, gardening or other minor activity which does not change the drainage or result in or contribute to soil erosion (unless its within a regulated woodland)
  • Soil test borings to determine soil type and/or stability
  • Percolation test efforts
  • Normal maintenance procedures such as earth or gravel road leveling and minor repairs or alterations to rights-of-way NOT affecting a wetland or watercourse
  • Pole installation, service lines and other earth changes of a minor nature and emergency repairs
  • Movement or placement of soil that involves less than seven hundred and fifty (750) square feet of soil AND is further than five hundred (500) feet from a water body, provided such movement or placement does not impede drainage, alter topography in comparision to adjacent proporties, being done on a parcel with an approved site plan, does not cause soil erosion or sedimentation to occur, and is not in violation of other provisions of the West Bloomfield Code of Ordinances
  • Stockpiling of soil and similar materials for a retail or wholesale dealer of landscaping materials on-site where erosion and sedimentation does not result
  • Stockpiling topsoil or other landscaping materials on a parcel which is to be wholly used on that parcel for the purpose of landscaping, and which does not cause erosion and sedimentation
  • Logging and mining activities determined in advance by the Planning and Environmental Department
